Fistful Of Sky by Nina Hoffman

I flew through this book, it took me literally an evening to read through it. I thought it was very fun and engaging and was successful at bringing magic into a modern setting.

This story is about a family who would be a normal family but for the fact that everyone in this family has magical powers, everyone except the main character that is. The protagonist is at odds with most members of her family, either because she feels left out magically or in the case of her mother, she is bothered about her weight (because apparently she isn't the slimmest pear on the tree). Anyway, so she has minor self confidence issues and is at odds with life as she knows it. Then one day a 'stranger' follows her home one night, and this stranger turns out to be her own magic, which is very powerful. The story is basically about her familiarizing herself with her powers.

It's semi surreal and a lot of fun. Overall it was very enjoyable. A great, light read.
